Top RVing and Travelling Apps You Should Use

Experienced or new RVers should know about the best mobile apps to use for trip planning, navigating while on the road, and finding things to do when visiting areas.

Here is a short list of the best RV apps you should be using, especially for finding the best campgrounds and planning the best outdoor activities where you will be visiting.

Campsites

iOverlander

This is a free Canadian-based app, giving a database of campsites and free boondocking places. It includes amenities offered at campsites, photos and GPS coordinates. It helps you find the best spot with detailed descriptions either by browsing listings or maps. You can even add new places, record your trip and share places with other RVers.

KOA

Nearly 500 KOA campgrounds are available throughout Canada and the United States, and are often a great option for campers and RVers. Their free KOA app allows you to search a campground, find available sites and reserve a spot from your mobile phone while you are on the road. Plus, you can access campground information and search tools and driving directions offline. The app also integrates with your favourite mobile navigation system for directions to your campground.

Outdoor Activities

AllTrails

This is a great app for the RVers, who love to hike, run and bike while discovering the area where they are visiting. The user-rated trails are categorized for beginner, intermediate and advanced trails. You can even download maps offline and access them anytime in case your cellular service becomes unavailable. Free with in-app purchases, it is also a family-friendly app providing kid and dog-friendly trails.

iNaturalist

This is a must-have app for RVers, who are nature lovers, bird watchers and hikers. The app works worldwide and gives you access to over 300,000 plants and animal species! As a free app, it helps you identify and record thousands of plant and animal species. You can even support a community of users and scientists with the data you collect! If you come across a plant you are unsure about, point your phone on it and identify it through the app.

The RVing world has a countless number of good and practical apps to help with many aspects of camping.
